Kookaburras are very large terrestrial kingfishers native to Australia and New Guinea, the name a loanword from Wiradjuri guuguubarra, which is onomatopoeic of its call.
Is this the bird that can make all kinds of interesting sounds, even like a car alarm? I'm digging the drawings, but I'm missing a few days here. Do I have to come down there? Is everything all right. Seriously though I do dig the drawings, this one is a nice addition to the collection.
No, lots of birds can mimic sounds such as car alarms. I've even heard local birds doing it... The Australian Lyrebird is famous for it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IntRMVukrX0
It even imitates the Kookaburra, which sounds a lot like a kingfisher.
